Here are some stories you may not otherwise read about today:

• Homeland security in the United States has signed a multi-million dollar contract with a global management consulting firm in an attempt to “master biosurveillance” using social networks. 

• Top leaders in Okinawa, Japan are determined to reduce the U.S. military presence on the island after a slew of rapes and assaults committed by U.S. military personnel against women and children on the island. 

• Thousands have taken to the street in Egypt to protest what Israel is doing to the people in Gaza right now. Egypt’s president has pledged to support the rapidly shrinking population in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza in the face of Israel’s monstrously blatant aggression.

• Without explanation, an unarmed teenage girl in Washington DC was shot at by a heavily armed SWAT team in her home. Authorities had a search warrant but have refused to answer why exactly they stormed the house and shot at the girl or why her family home was riddled with bullets. 

• Organized underpaid workers at Walmart have said that they are ready to strike on Black Friday. In order to counter the protest, Walmart will now begin its Black Friday deals ahead of schedule, the night before. More and more stores and workers are beginning to join up and organize together in a way unprecedented for the nightmarish giant employer. 

• FEMA sold off emergency disaster-relief shelters for one fifth of their price as soon as Hurricane Sandy was upgraded from a tropical storm to a hurricane,
